About Us

Matt and Susan Stein will always remember opening the doors to Greenwoods Grille for the first time on May 25, 2010, they were fulfilling a dream. Matt and Susan had always envisioned one day owning a restaurant that offered delicious food in an atmosphere that’s completely welcoming.

Greenwood’s kitchen is directed by Matthew Stein who brings years of experience from some of New York and Fairfield County’s finest and best known restaurants including The Four Seasons, La Casravelle, and The Helmsley Palace.

The food at Greenwood's includes comfort favorites with something for everyone.  The tap room is filled with friendly banter from locals and travelers alike enjoying one of the many different beers available on draught.  Greenwood's Grille and Ale House is the perfect spot for just about anything!

The Bethel Opera House

The Bethel Opera House was built in 1860 by Augustus A. Fisher.

Since then it has been used for a wide variety of uses including a hat manufacturing business, a silent movie theater, a public and town hall and even a roller skating rink all under different names; Fisher's Hall, Nichols' Opera House, Barnum Theatre and Leeja Hall.

The closest use to what it is today was when it was owned by John F. Nicols' who included a billiards hall and served up "Nichols' Old Fashioned Root Beer ~ The Beer with a Sparkle"

Today, Greenwood's is still serving up "beer with a sparkle", albeit a bit more on the adult side!  So swing on by and grab a beer and toast to Mr. Fisher and Mr. Nichols.  Who knows, you may even catch the ghost of Mr. Nichols in the back room, shooting a game of pool.
