The Bethel Opera House was built in 1860 by Augustus A. Fisher.
Since then it has been used for a wide variety of uses including a hat manufacturing business, a silent movie theater, a public and town hall and even a roller skating rink all under different names; Fisher's Hall, Nichols' Opera House, Barnum Theatre and Leeja Hall.
The closest use to what it is today was when it was owned by John F. Nicols' who included a billiards hall and served up "Nichols' Old Fashioned Root Beer ~ The Beer with a Sparkle"
Today, Greenwood's is still serving up "beer with a sparkle", albeit a bit more on the adult side! So swing on by and grab a beer and toast to Mr. Fisher and Mr. Nichols. Who knows, you may even catch the ghost of Mr. Nichols in the back room, shooting a game of pool.
